CONTROVERSIAL MUSHROOMS
Sunny Valley Village (RDI)
2017
program: art object, playground
The art object «Controversial Mushrooms» by authors Pavel Pepperstein and Ksenia Dranysh was initiated by the Archstoyanie Kids festival. This is the first functional object of a world-famous artist that has been embodied in material.
5 attraction mushrooms with different contents were built for the South Valley outside Moscow and presented at the Archstoyanie Kids festival.
Now «Mushrooms» have become a decoration and anchor object of the village being built by the RDI Group. Collaboration with the artist turned out to be profitable, and the marketing company of the object was more than successful.
Since childhood, we are all well acquainted with the large amanita (made either of wood or iron), which is an integral element of the playground. The analysis of the symbolic structure of playgrounds would take many pages and would be exciting, but, in this case, we want to focus on one character - a mushroom. Or it is better to say in the plural - mushrooms.
Thinking about this project, we imagined the choking laughter of children - a laugh to which they themselves could not find an explanation. This is the so-called «wild laugh», sometimes embarrassing adults.
